MOLAR Awarded Capacity Assistance by the Alliance for Arizona Nonprofits

MOLAR Coalition receives support through  the Capacity Building for System Success Initiative by the Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits - August 15, 2014

The MOLAR Coalition is delighted to receive capacity building technical assistance from the Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits through its Capacity Building for System Success Initiative grant, funded by First Things First of Arizona.

The capacity building services and technical assistance that the MOLAR Coalition will receive is "grounded in the premise that an organization's ability to successfully win grant awards is in direct proportion to its demonstrated effectiveness....increasing capacity."

Following capacity building best-practices, a targeted capacity building approach will be implemented.  The MOLAR Coalition will be paired with two qualified consultants who will assist it by undergoing a Core Capacity Assessment, to assess MOLAR's organizational aspirations, capacity needs, change management, and determine a cost-effective model for supporting its capacity building.

Technical assistance will be designed to foster growth in knowledge, skills, and demonstrated behaviors and will include content and skill instruction, modeling, facilitation, and on-site coaching to reinforce knowledge and skills.

The MOLAR Coalition is grateful to the Alliance for Arizona Nonprofits for this opportunity to build capacity and continue to help  increase oral health status for Maricopa County.

Older Adult's Work Group Screens at Desert West Senior Center

In 2013 the Older Adults Work Group screened seniors for oral cancer and disease at City of Phoenix’s Desert West Senior Center. The screenings took place from  9am to 11am during a health fair and the group was able to see about 20 individuals. In sponsorship, MOLAR helped to contribute oral health screening materials for this event, and its AmeriCorps VISTA coordinator, Emily,  contributed her time as the "Tooth Fairy."

It was the first of three senior screenings our Older Adult’s Work Group provided at various City of Phoenix Senior Centers.

Thank you to all of today’s volunteers for their time. A big thank you goes out to Emma Violante, RDH from our Older Adult Work Group and Lacretia Bacon from City of Phoenix for making this event possible.
